當(dāng)介質(zhì)壓力低時(shí)，金屬密封面的密封力缺少以抵達(dá)滿(mǎn)足的密封。相反當(dāng)介質(zhì)壓力高時(shí)，假定密封面不需要系統(tǒng)介質(zhì)或外來(lái)介質(zhì)潤(rùn)滑時(shí)，常常啟閉就可能使密封面磨損過(guò)大。另一個(gè)缺點(diǎn)是，在圓形流道上橫向運(yùn)動(dòng)的圓形閘板只有當(dāng)它處在閥門(mén)關(guān)方位的50%時(shí)，這種閥門(mén)對(duì)流量的控制才較靈敏。并且，閘板在切斷高速和高密度介質(zhì)流時(shí)，會(huì)發(fā)作劇烈振動(dòng)。假定將閥座做成V形通口并和閘板做緊密的導(dǎo)向，則它也可起到節(jié)流的作用。
